Adoption Policy

 We are so glad you dropped in to see our puppies!
Breeding Program & Policies::
Our animals are raised in our home, around children of all ages, other dogs, and cats. Our adult dogs and cats are our family pets first and foremost, and are a part of our family. All of our puppies are well socialized, and paper trained from 2 weeks on.

Our puppies are born in our bedroom, where they are kept until their eyes and ears open.
We handle the puppies daily to acquaint them to human touch, using the:
Super Dog Program.

We use this technique from days 2-16, when they are moved out into our living room (pictured here) where they are apart of all the action of our busy household. On warm days the pups are brought outside to play in the puppy yard, and they are lovingly held and played with every day they are 'living at home'. We have found this it be imperative in raising well socialized puppies. These early weeks mold and create the personality your puppy will have for the rest of its life with you. Would you want to trust that crucial development phase with a puppy mill or kennel where puppies are unfamiliar with human touch?

The puppies available for adoption will be featured on the Puppy Nursery page. If you are interested in any of these darling babies, please contact us at: absolutelyadorablebiewers@comcast.net

Personality Testing::

The more we raise puppies, the more we am amazed at the different personalities and how they develop! Just like us, each pet has a unique personality that is their very own. I feel it is very important to be watchful of each individual puppy in order to evaluate their personality correctly. In doing so, we are able to match every baby to the home that is best for them. While matching a baby's personalities to it's family sounds like a drawn out process that you may feel unnecessary, I feel it is best for the puppy and their new family. This is a family member that you will be spending many years with, and I want to be able to find the best match for your particular home and lifestyle.

Puppy Personality Testing::
We perform a series of personality tests from the age of 4 weeks on, to determine the temperament and personality of each puppy. These tests are performed throughout the most active time of the day to ensure accurate readings. The testing includes reactions to stimuli such as, noise, surprise reactions, tolerance abilities, and basic reactions to new situations, people, other animals, and children. Then, we are able to place a puppy in the best environment for it's particular personality. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have about a certain puppy. We try to match each puppy to the perfect family. As each situation is different, so are the personalities of each puppy.

Discipline VS Personality::
As much time as I put into evaluating the puppies and their temperaments, there are some factors that are environmental in the raising of a puppy. I am a firm believer that a dog's behavior is only as good as the owner's training.
A mellow, responsive, sweet-natured puppy can leave our quiet home and enter a home that is chaotic and stressful. Do you think that puppy will develop the same in the new environment as it would have in the quiet home? Probably not. The mood of the home will strongly effect a puppy. This is why it is very important to match a puppy to the BEST ENVIORNMENT for it's natural tendencies. If there is an abundant amount of activity, loud children (or adults!), yelling, rough housing, etc, then a dog will pick up this energy and become more energetic or possibly neurotic. Same goes for inconsistent training and discipline. A puppy that is 'nearly housetrainied' when it leaves our home can revert back to being completely un-trained if the family lets the puppy have free-reign of the house and are inconsistent in taking the puppy outdoors on a schedule. A puppy is easily confused by the mixed signals that are sent by it's humans. A bored untrained dog can resort to barking or digging if they are left outside for long hours unattended. We find that most of our families have great success in training their puppies, as they are committed to the responsibility of being consistent with their dog. We occasionally have a few people that have training issues, and with further discussion the root issue is always inconsistent training. How can you be successful in raising a happy well adjusted and trained puppy? Read books on puppy training, watch the Dog Whisperer, (Cesar Millan is amazing!!!) and sign up for obedience classes. All of these steps help novice dog owners learn how to raise a well trained and disciplined puppy!

The Deposit and Application Date::

If we accept your application you will be required to send a non-refundable and non-transferable $500 per puppy deposit. I cannot place a puppy on hold until a deposit is made. This will guarantee you a place on our waiting list and will be deducted from the adoption fee, leaving balance due in CASH/Pay-pal, once your puppy/kitten has been chosen on Adoption Day. All payments will need to be made before the pick up/delivery day.

Applications are dated the day deposits are received, and we will send out an email to verify that the deposit was received. First pick of puppies is made in the order applications and deposits are received.

If you indicate you are interested in adopting two puppies, TWO deposits of $500.00 are required and must be received before the litter is offered to the waiting list for choosing. Once a deposit is submitted with an application, you will secure your place on our waiting list. If for any reason you decide not to adopt from us, your deposit will be forfeited, and your place on the waiting list will be given to the next family in line. Remember, a deposit shows us you are committed to adopting one of our puppies. We take that commitment seriously, and expect the same from our families on the waiting list. If you change your mind the loss of your deposit is your penalty. Please think through the decision to adopt a puppy and discuss the pros and cons with your family before you submit a deposit and application.

Continuing Contact through the Pregnancy ::

As our females are bred, we will maintain contact VIA email with information on the litter and due dates. We love to get to know our families and encourage any questions you may have about your new baby. As the puppies are born, we will send out pictures through email to our awaiting families. All of our puppies are healthy and will receive their first shots, worming, and are sent with a new baby packet, and a lifetime of support! When you choose a puppy from Absolutely Adorable Biewers, we are committed to providing support and contact throughout your puppy's life.
How the Puppies are Raised::

We have been breeding for many years, and have learned through trial and error the best way to raise pups. When the puppies are born, we keep them nearby in our bedroom or puppy nursery, where they are able to be in a quiet area away from the other dogs. We leave our television on throughout the day to acclimate the pups to the sounds of people and household noises. When the pups are 3-4 weeks old, we have an area in our living room set up for the puppies to spend the rest of their time with us. This is right in the middle of our house, with lots of action. The puppies love being close to our children, and receive lots of attention throughout the day.

Julie's puppies are also exposed to our other adult dogs, and cats. In fact, one of her cats, Berlioz, absolutely loves the puppies, and he plays with them throughout the day-- He is darling! We have received many reports that our puppies are great cat lovers, and some suspicion of Berlioz possibly being the father! Whatever the reason, we believe this cat is a wonderful asset to our breeding program---the puppies love him!

We also paper train the puppies, and have received many reports back that our pups were the easiest puppy to potty train. We take regular potty breaks outside, when weather permits, and the puppies have an area in the back yard to run and play without worry of getting into trouble.

We are strong supporters of natural rearing, and we raise all of our dogs on a healthy, holistic diet. We have been successfully feeding our dogs this way for a few years now, and the results are astounding. Yes, it is much more expensive for us to feed our dogs this way, but the outcome is worth the investment. We have the healthiest dogs, and our vets are always amazed at how clean our dogs teeth are! We encourage our new families to follow our feeding program to ensure the proper nutrition and health for their dog. Julie also offers a 2-year health guarantee to all puppies that are raised on Life Abundance Foods.

Vaccination and Worming Schedule::

We also vaccinate and worm our puppies while they are with us, and send a record with our puppies for you to show your vet. We recommend regular fecal exams to check for worms, as parasites are a common occurrence with dogs, and can become a serious problem if not taken care of properly. Puppies love to chew on anything--and everything--in site, and parasites are easily transmitted in those circumstances.

We vaccinate our pups at weeks 8, 12, 16, and worm them from 4 weeks old. Please visit our page about vaccinations for a detailed explaination. We also use a preventative for Coccidia, if needed, which can be easily transmitted to other animals.
Our Breeding Program::

Our breeding stock are all from excellent champion lines. We researched for years to find the best breeding stock for our breeding program, and are very pleased with our wonderful animals. All of our dogs have excellent health, stature, bloodlines and temperaments, with no genetic disorders to speak of. We have done our very best to ensure healthy puppies. This doesn't mean one cannot crop up at anytime--which would be our worst nightmare. If that does happen, we have a guarantee. To see our guarantee, please contact us, and we will email it to you!

We are not a kennel or puppy mill. All our adult dogs---as well as the puppies, are well cared for and a part of our family; we are very proud of our babies and raise them with the best of care!

More on Adopting a Pet::
Adopting a pet is a big commitment and must be taken seriously as this dog could be with you for more than 15 years! Please take the time to read about your breed and learn before you adopt any new pet. All puppies are not alike. Be careful who you buy a pet from--there are many careless breeders who are only breeding to make money, and do not provide the proper care of their animals. Adopt your pet from a caring and respectable breeder.

If you are serious about adopting a puppy, we have references available. We ask that you do not request our references just to speak to someone with a puppy, as that would be unfair to our families on our reference list who give their time. Please be considerate!

Shipping & Delivery::

We deliver for an $100.00 fee within the state, (due to higher gas prices). If you live out of state, we either ship the puppies, or you can pick up the puppy and fly back with the crate under the seat as a carry on. We've had great experiences shipping and it is much easier on the pups than a long car ride. They are treated very well, and are in a climate controlled cargo area, separate from the baggage. The airlines have certain requirements to ship a dog such as:

  • Health Certificate---$60.00

  • Series 100 Crate----$30.00

  • (International shipments may need special paperwork)

  • Proper food and bedding

We can make the shipping arrangements for you so you don't have to, unless shipping to Canada or abroad. Then we may need you to check into requirements. Shipping generally runs from $180- $250 plus cost of certificate and crate.

Courier Service::

For anyone that would like their puppy flown as a carry-on on a flight, we can also make arrangements to deliver to you as well. Buyer will need to make the flight arrangements, and all accommodations are the responsibility of the buyer. Or if you prefer, you can fly in to our airport, and we will meet you there with your little one ready!

The puppies do very well on the flight. We work with them by putting them in their crate throughout the day so when it is time to ship them, they are used to the new 'den'. Shipping is done either late in the evening or early in the morning. The baby sleeps through the flight with morning or afternoon arrival at your airport. Not all breeders ship puppies/kittens carefully, if you are having a puppy shipped to you from a breeder, make clear that the puppy is at least 8 weeks old. Insist that the puppy will have food, water, a bed, toy, etc.

Fear Impring Stage and Shipping--going to their forever home::
Puppies from 9 to 10 weeks of age can show stronger fear reactions and actually retain their fear of an object or person. This critical period of development during a puppies life is called the Fear Imprint stage. This can sometimes begin as early as 8 weeks and last until week 12.

• Puppies can be permenantly effected by a single traumatic experience
• Puppies vary as to how susceptible they are
We are confident that the socialization program that our puppies receive will get them off to a good start, and they will fare well--even if having to be shipped during this timeframe. Although to be on the safe side, we prefer to have all puppies go to their forever homes and be shipped at 8 weeks old if and to avoid shipping at a later date if at all possible.
